Winter Makeup Trends!

The rain at the beginning of the week, officially marked the arrival of the winter season, plunging the mercury to an exciting low. Winters in Pakistan, and generally across the northern hemisphere, is a festive season and more in this country as weddings and related events take over the social calendar.

To be honest, the festive season is already in full swing as we've already had 3 big, fat celebrity weddings on both sides of the border - Deepika & Ranveer, Priyanka & Nick, Aiman & Muneeb ICYMI - giving us major fashion and makeup inspiration. To top that, we've also had two bridal weeks in the city.

As someone, who attended both the bridal weeks and as well the weddings (on Instagram LOL), I observed all makeup and fashion trends and decided to make a list of the current makeup trends.

Winged Eyeliners

Whether a cat eye or a regular one, winged eyeliners are the rage these days. Deepika Padukone has often been spotted with the perfect wings and the recently concluded Hum Bridal Couture Week also had models sport this makeup look on the catwalk. Paired with clean, highlighted skin and a deep lip, the overall look was chic and trendy.

While everyone has their own eyeliner preferences, my favourites have to be the Inglot Gel Eyeliner in #77 and Maybelline Hyper Impact Liner.

Smokey Eye

Before anything else, let me just say that smokey eyes and South Asian skintones are a match made in heaven. 'Brown girls' carry this makeup look effortlessly and there is no better example of this than Deepika, who sported the smokey eye in different forms on all her wedding days.

For her ceremonies in Italy, the actor opted for a kohl smokey eyes while she went for a bronze smokey look on one of her receptions. Meanwhile, on another of her wedding parties, she went for a dark blue smokey eye which literally blew us away.

Pro-tip for achieving the flawless smokey eye - apply a black base, use earthy tones in the crease and blend, blend and blend!

Glitter

The glitter trend is not dying anytime soon. From the red carpet to the ramp to the weddings, glitter was everywhere. However, it featured more prominently in both the winter fashion shows. Glitter, on the crease, was a new trend spotted at the recently concluded Hum Bridal Week.

My favourite products for a glitter look are: Urban Decay Glitter Eyeliner, Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow and Inglot's loose glitters. All these can be used in a variety of ways to achieve your desired look.

Pro-tip: When doing a glitter eye, do your eyes first and the rest of your face later so you can clean up the glitter specs. Glitter tends to fall and will stick to your foundation.

Deep lips

I absolutely love a strong lip and wish more celebrities sport it instead of opting for the typical rosy, pink or nude lip. The recently concluded Hum Bridal Week saw models sport a deep, burgundy and brown lips which looked absolutely stunning. With minimal eyes and dewy skin, the overall effect is gorgeous, to say the least.

Pro-tip: Ensure your lips are not cracked because a deep lip will emphasise the cracks. Secondly, always line and fill in your lips with a natural lip pencil so that the lipstick lasts longer and does not spread.

Which makeup look is your favourite this season? Let me know in the comments.

Love.
