NYX Above and Beyond Full Coverage Concealer in Orange - Review

Droopy, dull and glum both lay surrounded in a grey cloud of Darkness
The harder they struggled to break the murk, the more it enveloped them.

Many a tiny glimmers of hope came in to break the powerful gloom!
None could not defeat the engulfing smoke.

Then came a sudden burst of light so bright
Rays bloomed and vanquished the murkiness!

Those two pools lit up and sparkled,
The darkness was conquered.

Those two eyes, once droopy and dull
Bathed in bright light they shone in utter delight!

In came the Saviour the Orange Knight!

LOLL I know this ode is probably the first even for the NYX Orange Concealer also. So don't be startled my friends. Let me warn you (in case you did not notice already) this will not be quite your typical makeup product review.

So onto the actual topic that is the Orange Corrector that the above lines actually pay tribute to. Yes I actually DO love it that much; enough to write an ode to it. Finding it was a happy accident, you know one of those awesome tukkas!

Before I get into the actual review I want to 'shed light' on my dark circles story. I have severe and I mean, really severe dark circles. Basically this pigmentation all around my eyes like three, four(or more) tones darker than my actual skin tone! The kind they paint on to show a mareez/ghareeb/buzurg in most of our TV dramas. They were not always this bad and it is not hereditary either. I had this disastrous reaction to a facial around the eye area (which I do not want to talk about and relive). This incident left this added darkness, so I am still looking for a permanent solution for them. However, whatever creams or gels I have used till date, the darkness refuses to budge.

So for now my best bet is hiding it. Now your regular concealers don't do nothing for me. Firstly they do not cover them. Even if they do, they make them grey and worse than they actually are. So I had never really found a concealer that could give me perfect coverage on it's own.

I did try to do some research as to what corrector or concealer would cover what kind of darkness or dark circles. However I couldn't really put my hand on what would work for me. Because they are not purple, yellow wouldn't work and they are not green or blue either so pink etc would probably not be the best bet either. I did not even know what category to fit my dark circles in. Add to this, getting these correctors online without trying. Misery magnified!

But then one fine(and random) day, I see this orange corrector in stock on this page called Beauty Arena and I just added this to the cart on a whim.

Once I had it in my hands and actually tried it. It was a Eureka moment really! It just clicked and worked! Ofcourse partnered with a good skin coloured concealer. However, for me it really was a game changer! A true life saver! It made any concealer work. It was magical! I actually finished up an entire tub of this corrector and repurchased it, which is a first for me!

Later on I found the Bobbi Brown Deep Peach corrector which is phenomenal also. However, that does have less product and is considerably more expensive. But this baby is still my most recommended (And Alhamdulilah whoever got it on my recommendation absolutely loved it) for all my 'tired of trying to cover their dark circles' sisters.

Now coming to some of the technical review-y pointers:

Price: Very affordable and even if you order from online pages it is not super expensive!

Consistency: This product has amazing consistency; not too thick nor too thin. Its enough to give you coverage but its not that thick that it would crease immensely (setting with a powder always helps though). And even if you layer it does not go cakey.

Application: This is a very user-friendly product, unlike say the Kryolan Orange TV Stick which may be trickier for a beginner. You can easily apply it with your fingers. Just pat it instead of rubbing(makes a huge difference) or you can use a synthetic brush to apply it. It works equally well with either tool!

Multi-tasking: Yes, you can also use it to cover up pigmentation all over your face. I do use it around the jaw or chin sometimes. But then make sure to go over with a skin tone concealer and blend it well to take away the grayness.

Lasting power: This product lasts fairly well on me. I do set it with powder and plus I have dry skin. But this does not disappear on you; it lasts :)

The only con I can think is that you have to dip your finger in the pot, but as long as your fingers are clean, it is fine right? Or you can always use a brush!

Bare Eye                                                 NYX Concealer Applied                  NYX Orange Concealer blended                                                                                                                                             with  concealer

Oh yes and sadly I heard somewhere that NYX is discontinuing this product. Why you be so crazy NYX!?! This one is a gem and a keeper!

P.S. However if you are blessed with flawless skin and you have no dark circles you can happily skip this. AND I envy you my friend you are indeed blessed! Masha`Allah! (Humarey sar pay bhi haath pher dein, Lol)

But yes these days, more often than not, dark circles do haunt most of us! SO what you gonna when they come for you!! Call the Dark Circle BUSTER (Random Ghost Busters song reference...Haha) aka our very own NYX Above and Beyond Full Coverage Concealer in Orange!

P.S.S. DO I even need to give it a rating? I wrote it an ode, for crying out loud.
